Welcome to the Merseyside Jeet Kune Do School
online website. You can find all the relevant
information about the school on this website,
from western boxing to wing chun.
There are allot of aspects involved in Jeet Kune
Do and Sifu Alex Jameson works hard to teach you
everything he knows and will tackle every area
of Jeet Kune Do.
Bruce Lee is the founder of JKD and was
developed in the United States. Jeet Kune Do is
also recognized as Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do which in
English means "Bruce Lee's Way of the
Intercepting Fist".
Jeet Kune Do is built up of different concepts
such as Wing Chun, Western Boxing and Fencing
stances. JKD is not a typical style you will
come across, such as Karate or TaeKwonDo. This
style is a purified and simplistic way of street
fighting.

What Do We Teach?
Alex Jameson will teach you everything he knows
of what Bruce taught. As Alex has been trained
with many of OJKD students. You will be taken
through the basic footwork to help you move in
or out of your opponent and getting your
distance and timing correct. You will be taken
through the four basic ranges of combat which
are kicking, punching, trapping and grappling.
Kicking
You will be shown how to find your use of the
groin kick, side kick, hook kick, shin kick,
back kick and the crescent kick. All the kicks
are low line kicks, not high kicks as they are
tend to be shown as telegraphing. However we do
go through high kicks for flexibility.
Punching
You will be shown how punch how it was shown by
Bruce, which is a vertical punch. Using your
hips and Bi Jong correctly, you will deliver a
powerful punch. The straight lead punch is the
main punch and is delivered inwards. Also you
will be shown the western boxing side of combat,
were you will be shown the hook, uppercut and
backfist. These punched are practiced using spot
pads and gloves.
Trapping
You will be taken through the modified version
of wing chun that Bruce Lee taught to his
students. The basic trapping techniques range
from Pak Sao, Lap Sao, Tan Sao, Bong Sao drills
and many more other Wing Chun techniques. You
can use this to your advantage in any fight once
perfected. The Wing Chun wooden dummy helps to
train your trapping drills when no one is around
to assist.
Grappling
You will be shown the basic form of grappling
that will work on the street and also show you
the many takedowns you can pull off. There are
only a limited amount off grappling involved in
JKD as the art is mainly toe to toe fighting
The five ways of attack with be demonstrated
which also help to keep you sharp and focused at
all times. The five ways of attack are Single
Direct Attack (SDA), Hand Immobilization Attack
(HIA), Progressive Indirect Attack (PIA), Attack
By Combinations (ABC) and Attack By Drawing
(ABD).
There are also the four corners that we will
take you through. These are the JKD blocks if
you wish.
